Systematics/Phytogeography / Taxonomie/ Section Ocampo, Gilberto [1], Columbus, Travis [2]. Phylogenetics of Portulaca (Portulacaceae). Portulaca is one of 19 genera recognized in the non-monophyletic Portulacaceae, and includes ca. 100 species distributed around the world, with centers of diversity in South America and Africa. We present preliminary results from phylogenetic analyses of the genus, which included samples representing ca. 50 taxa from North America (including the West Indies), South America, Hawaii, Australia, and Africa. We sequenced one nuclear (ITS) and three chloroplast markers (the coding ndhF, as well as the psbD–trnT and psbJ–petA intergenic spacers), and analyzed them using parsimony and Bayesian methods. The genus was found to be monophyletic with high support. Relationships, infrageneric classification, and biogeographical patterns are discussed. Log in to add this item to your schedule
