The morphology of hair in species of Plantago L sect.Coronopus Pilger in Iran.

The hairs of the following representatives of the genus Plantago were studied: P. corocopus L. subsp. commutata Pilge. and P. maritima L. subsp. salsa Rech. The hairs of P. corocopus L and P. maritima L are similar. One types headed hairs and four types of headless hairs was observed. Bottle-like hairs and headless hair contain: 1-3 celled – bristle – shaped, 2) several cell 3- ) several cell with over lapping first cell and 4- multicellular web- like. Therefore pilger,s idea that put these two species in the section Coronopus would be confirmed.
