Botany 2008 Goes Green

Many efforts are being made to incorporate environmental considerations through-out all stages of the Botany 2008 conference to minimize negative impact on the environment.

For starters we are:
Partnering with the University of British Columbia and coordinating with their "green policies." This includes recycling any and all products that can be recycled.

We will make an effort to buy locally for all food and beverage events at the conference.

We are limiting the amount of print materials we are producing. Abstract and Program books will be pared down and available electronically. We have developed a personal planning tool for attendees to print their own schedules and only the abstracts of sessions they wish to attend.

Conference bags and giveaways will be made with recycled materials.

In an effort to give back to the Vancouver Community we are organizing a service project where botanists can use their skills to help in the Camosun Bog Reclamation Project. Details coming soon!

If you have thought or ideas of things we can do.....let me know! Send me an email at johanne@botany.org
