Conference Overview

The Botanical Society of America (BSA), Canadian Botanical Association/L’Association Botanique du Canada (CBA/ABC) and their partner societies will hold a joint annual meeting at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada, July 26 – 30, 2008. Other societies participating in the BOTANY 2008 conference will include: the American Fern Society (AFS), and American Society of Plant Taxonomists (ASPT). The theme for BOTANY 2008 is Botany Without Borders.

Members of all participating societies are encouraged to organize and present workshops at the annual meeting. We invite proposals for workshops along education or research themes. Join us on Sunday, July 27, 2008 (as part of the Education and Outreach Forum) to share a new techniques, strategies, and projects with your colleagues. Workshops are typically:

  • hands-on sessions
  • free to participants
  • two-hour, half-day or full-day length

Workshops are ticketed events but are free to registered attendees and generally have limited enrollments. Careful consideration must be given to logistical issues and to support facilities such as computers, laboratory requirements, and seating style.

Any questions about workshop proposals, please contact Johanne Stogran at johanne@botany.org

Proposals should include the following: 1) title of the workshop, 2) name(s) and contact information for all organizers, 3) a brief summary of the workshop, 4) length of workshop, 5) preferred day and time for workshop, 6) support facilities required and 7) enrollment limit.
